Ford’s Super Duty lineup is due to receive a complete redesign for the 2017 model year. As part of the process, the 2017 Ford F-350 adopts a lighter and stiffer chassis as well as some styling enhancements. On top ofthat, the Super Duty line of trucks will benefit from the improved Power Stroke 6.7-liter V8 turbo-diesel. According to the automaker, the new F-350 will be significantly stronger than its predecessor due to heavier-duty axles and suspension upgrades.

Speculations about the next-generation heavy-duty trucks adopting a new lightweight frame with aluminum body panels have definitely been confirmed. Encouraged by the success of the new F-150 pickup truck that lost impressive 700 pounds due to its lightweight platform, Ford decided to implement the same solution in redesigning its larger trucks. When it comes to the 2017 Ford F-350, will be 350 pounds lighter in comparison with the outgoing model.
As mentioned, the updated trucks will benefit from the stronger axles and suspension pieces that will give them the highest gross combined weight ratings in the segment, rated at 40,000 pounds. The stronger front axle will also enable Ford’s Super Duty trucks to accommodate larger front-end equipment, such as snowplows, etc. In that regard, expect the 2017 F-350 to offer substantially improved towing and hauling capacities.
2017 Ford F-350 Powertrain Department
As for the engine department, the 2017 Ford F-350 will feature only subtle enhancements. The gasoline option will once again come in the form of a 6.2-liter V8 making 385 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. This unit that runs on regular unleaded will also be E85 compatible. Now, the Power Stroke 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel is expected to receive additional 30 hp, which is an in increase from 440 hp to 470 hp. Both engines will be fitted to a six-speed automatic transmission and offered with either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
