The thirteenth generation of the iconic F-150 is still fresh on the market but Ford keeps upgrading it nevertheless. The 2017 Ford F-150 XLT is expected to receive several minor tweaks and equipment upgrades. As of 2016, the most popular pickup truck in the US is available with a new trim level, as well as an upgraded infotainment system. The F-150 will once again offer powerful turbocharged V6 engines with excellent fuel economy, impressive towing and hauling capacities and a wide array of convenience and safety technologies.
2017 Ford F-150 XLT Features
The 2017 Ford F-150 XLT will slot above the entry-level XL model that offers mostly basic amenities, such as manual windows, vinyl floors, cloth upholstery, a 4.2-inch central touchscreen, 17-inch steel wheels, an AM/FM stereo, etc. Now, the F-150 XLT adds cruise control, power windows, power locks and a standard CD player. In case you opt for major option packages, expect to get remote start, satellite radio, power-adjustable pedals, heated front seats and rear parking sensors. The XLT trim also offers towing and off-road packages, as well as additional wheel designs (up to 20-inch). Just like the rest of the F-150 range, the XLT models will be available in three body styles, three bed lengths and with four engines.
2017 Ford F-150 XLT Engine Department
When it comes to the engine options, the 2017 Ford F-150 XLT will carry over unchanged. The range starts with a 3.5-liter V6 making 282 horsepower and 283 pound-feet of torque. The next in line is a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that puts out 325 hp and 375 lb-ft of twist. As far as the towing capacity is concerned, the 5.0-liter V8 churning out 385 hp and 387 lb-ft would be the best choice. Finally, the range-topping 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 will be cranking out 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. All engines come paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with a tow-haul mode. Whereas the entry-level V6 can tow up to 7,600 pounds, the turbocharged 2.7-liter V6’s towing capacity is rated at 8,500 pounds and the 5.0-liter V8 tows up to 11,100 pounds.
